Overview

This Security Hardening project focused on reinforcing the security posture of production-grade Ubuntu Linux servers to protect critical business data and ensure uninterrupted operations. The initiative involved implementing multi-layered security controls such as activity logging, user access management, antivirus protection, anti-rootkit tools, firewall rules, and jail blocking mechanisms. Additionally, a site-to-site VPN was deployed to secure inter-server communications, while scheduled backups ensured rapid recovery in case of incidents. The result is a robust and resilient server environment aligned with industry best practices.

Key Features

Security Service Implementation

Installed and configured essential security services, including real-time activity logging, intrusion detection, and jail block mechanisms to prevent repeated attack attempts.

Antivirus & Anti-Rootkit Protection

Integrated advanced antivirus solutions and anti-rootkit scanners to detect and neutralize potential malware, rootkits, and zero-day threats.

VPN Site-to-Site Connectivity

Established an encrypted site-to-site VPN tunnel to protect data transmission between remote network endpoints.

Scheduled Backup

Configured automated, encrypted backups to safeguard data integrity and support point-in-time recovery strategies.

By applying a layered security hardening approach on Ubuntu Linux servers, this project successfully enhanced data protection, minimized security risks, and improved overall system resilience. The combined use of firewall policies, malware defenses, secure connectivity, and reliable backup routines ensures the server infrastructure remains secure, stable, and prepared against potential cyber threats.
